Statham’s Landing Spring Clean-Up!
Please mark March 19, 2022/9:00 on your calendar for the annual “Statham’s Landing Spring Clean-Up!” We’ll meet at the Southern Landings Club parking lot at 9:00 AM. Plastic bags and water will be provided; however, bring gloves and of course be aware of the weather and dress appropriately.
Our first goal will be to pick up litter on Stathams Way on each side of the two islands, and then we’ll move on to Old Hawkinsville Road. Although Hawkinsville Rd is not in SL, the litter/trash is a reflection of our community and has accumulated since we cleaned it up in 2021. We’ll start from HWY 247 and pick up litter on both sides of the road until we are at the Woodfield subdivision. If time permits, we’ll then clean up areas in SL that may include removing debris from the curb, which will require a flat shovel and a leaf blower. Our goal is to be finished by 12:00!
Thanks to you, we live in a wonderful community, and we appreciate your willingness to keep it that way. If you have questions or suggestions, give me a call; otherwise, hope to see you on March 19th!
Cheers,
John Rowlands

Thanks to Mr. Kucheravy – No Passing Line
A note of thanks to Mr. Kucheravy: In response to his call about another near-miss head-on collision on Stathams, the HOA is working with the county engineers to add a no-passing center line on Stathams Way. Thank you for putting that idea forward.
Reminder about posting signs in Statham’s Landing
The only signs allowed on your property are:
- “For Sale/Rent” signs of a realtor or homeowner
- Security system signs
- Life event signs can be displayed for a total of 7 days

Approved signs are to be placed on your property only and not in the Statham’s Landing common areas. No signs of any type are to be attached to the post of any street name or traffic sign or to a street light pole.
Accident on Statham’s Way: February 4, 2022
Many have asked about the accident that occurred last Friday in front of 106 Statham’s Way (a very straight portion of Statham’s Way) involving two pickup trucks, with one belonging to a SL resident and the other a contractor. Our resident was driving out of SL, while the contractor was coming into our neighborhood and veered into the outbound lane resulting in a head-on collision. Both vehicles are pictured below. As you can see, the damage was significant, and the contractor received several tickets!
I heard the collision from the inside of my house at 10:05AM. I ran out and saw the contractor’s truck on the grass along the white fence, while our resident’s truck was still in the outbound lane. The contractor appeared to be injury free, while our resident had significant injuries. We administered first aid while waiting for the ambulance to arrive, and although he had serious injuries, there is good news: He was released from the hospital this past Wednesday, and is now home recovering, and hopefully able to enjoy the fruit basket the HOA sent!
We often talk about the frequent speeding and inattentive driving in SL. This accident was a classic example of both and what can happen. Living on Statham’s Way, I see speeding vehicles, inattentive drivers, and reckless drivers (to include passing me when I am doing the speed limit, 25MPH). The impact of this accident was significant and could have easily been a loss of life involving children, a golf cart, or any of our residents walking or running. If you have any control of those living or visiting in our neighborhood, please ask them to SLOW DOWN and be attentive while driving.
Please be safe and drive safer,
John Rowlands
